The answer is – It depends. What we’ve observed in blocks that have been monitored every year for the past 5 years, when Movento has been applied routinely, mealybug counts are very low to zero. So, if you’ve been effectively managing mealybugs for at least the past 2 years, you’re probably safe to skip the Movento spray this year. If you (or a scout) find mealybugs when trunk bark is peeled, then it’s still important to maintain a management strategy for these insects.
