Ranga will be filling as the acting berry specialist until Erica returns, and Jason is taking on a permanent role as the entomologist for horticulture crops

As some of you may be aware, Jason Lemay has recently transitioned to a permanent role with OMAFA as an entomologist for horticulture crops.

Rangasashidhar (Ranga) Sirigiri will be taking on the role of Fruit Crop Specialist – Berries, while Erica Pate is on leave.

Ranga has worked on a range of agricultural projects in India, gaining practical experience across diverse cropping systems. Prior to joining OMAFA, he was working as a Seed Plant Manager at Connell Farms, where he was involved in seed production and crop management. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and a Postgraduate Diploma in Agri-Business Management. He brings a strong background in agriculture and a keen interest in supporting berry crop production through practical, science-based recommendations.

Ranga is committed to working closely with growers and industry partners to address production challenges, enhance crop management practices, and support innovation within Ontario’s berry sector.

He looks forward to connecting with berry growers across the province and contributing to the continued success of the industry.
