Raspberry Update May 8, 2015

From Berry Bulletin 2015-03

Raspberries: Raspberries are showing variable growth and signs of winter injury. Although raspberries can compensate for winter injury to some extent, it is possible that buds will begin to grow and then collapse as they become stressed. Ensure adequate soil moisture especially during the bud, bloom and green fruit stage.

A fungicide for cane diseases is needed to protect primocanes and developing laterals before the next significant rain.

Primocanes are emerging and will be damaged now by post emergent herbicide applications. Growers on biennial production should be ready to apply Ignite when primocanes are 4-6 inches tall.

The herbicide Sandea is no longer registered for use on raspberries.

Prism herbicide is now registered on raspberries, http://bit.ly/1JTI1Uz.
